The Impact of Government Expenditure in Agriculture and Other Selected Variables on the Value of Agricultural Production in South Africa (1983–2019): Vector Autoregressive Approach

South African agriculture has the potential to stimulate growth in other economic sectors, but dwindling budgetary allocations over time and nature of impacting factors on value agricultural production have not received much attention recent times. Therefore, present study examined effects government expenditure agriculture, annual average rainfall, consumer price index, food import value, population with a specific focus for period 1983 2019. Using Johansen cointegration test, results reveal that there is long-run relationship among variables. The Granger causality test suggest does cause production. However, two variables are linked through model, such an increase were shown ultimately based vector autoregressive (VAR) model analysis.
